Yes, a special permit is required to enter Upper Mustang as it’s a restricted area. Brahmand Tour will take care of all the permits and paperwork for Upper and Lower Mustang areas so you can have a hassle-free experience. The permit cost is $500 for 10 days and is included in the package.
Best time is spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) when the sky is clear, temperature is moderate and trails are open. We advise to avoid the monsoon (June to August) as it rains heavily and road condition is bad especially in Upper Mustang.
