Getting from Germany to India

  • Fly intoDelhi (DEL) for Himalayan and Rajasthan tours; Kochi (COK) for the south. Non-stop from Frankfurt and Munich with Lufthansa and Air India; from Zurich, Vienna, Amsterdam, Paris and Milan direct or via Doha, Dubai or Istanbul.
  • Flight timeAbout 7.5 to 8 hours non-stop from Frankfurt or Munich; 10 to 12 hours one-stop from elsewhere in Europe
  • VisaEU, Swiss and UK passport holders apply online for an e-Tourist Visa (30-day, 1-year or 5-year). Approval takes 3 to 5 working days. Riders also need a motorcycle licence (A) and an International Driving Permit that covers motorcycles.
  • Time differenceIndia is 3.5 hours ahead of Central European Time (4.5 in winter). Our office day overlaps your morning, so WhatsApp replies usually arrive before your lunch.

Motorcycle tours most booked by European travellers

What European riders ask us first

  • Licence and permit. Bring your national A-class licence and an International Driving Permit (1949 or 1968 convention) marked for motorcycles. German, Austrian, Swiss and Italian permits are all accepted.
  • The bikes. Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 for high-altitude routes and Classic 350 for highway tours, serviced before every departure, with panniers and crash guards. Riders used to larger European bikes find the Himalayan easy on gravel and at altitude.
  • Insurance. Your travel policy must cover motorcycling up to 125 cc or above (most German and Swiss policies exclude it by default) and altitude to 5,600 m. We list the exact wording to check before you pay a deposit.
  • Group size and pace. Six to twelve riders, a lead rider, a sweep and a backup vehicle carrying luggage, spares and oxygen. Daily distances are 120 to 250 km with rest days built in.
  • Pricing. Typical all-inclusive cost on the ground is USD 3,500 to 5,500 per rider depending on route and length, quoted in EUR on request. Flights and visa are extra.
  • Italian-speaking support. Our consultant in Cassano Magnago, Italy, can take your call in Italian; our office team works in English and German-friendly written communication.

Questions from European travellers

Can I ride in India with a German or EU motorcycle licence?

Yes, together with an International Driving Permit that covers motorcycles. Carry both, plus your passport and visa, at all times while riding. Police checks on the Manali-Leh road are routine.

How difficult are the Himalayan routes?

You should be comfortable on unpaved roads, water crossings and slow technical sections at altitude. The Rajasthan and South India tours suit any confident road rider. Tell us your experience and we recommend the right route.

What is the altitude and how do you manage it?

The Ladakh routes cross passes above 5,300 m. Every itinerary includes acclimatisation days, the backup vehicle carries oxygen, and the tour leader is trained to recognise altitude sickness.

Which insurance do I need?

Comprehensive travel insurance that explicitly covers riding a motorcycle above 125 cc, high-altitude trekking or riding to at least 5,600 m, medical evacuation and trip cancellation. We send the checklist with your quote.

Can I bring a pillion or a non-riding partner?

Yes. Pillions ride at a reduced price and non-riders travel in the backup vehicle with the same hotels and meals.

When should I book?

Fixed departures for June to September fill by March. Private groups of four or more can choose their own dates with three months notice.
