Kinner Kailash

Wake up in the breathtaking sight of Kinner Kailash that glows like a golden belt in the soft morning light—a view that stops you in your tracks and stays with you forever. After breakfast, ready for the next stretch toward Spiti Valley’s rugged heart.

The road to Pooh will be a dream- smooth, fast, and tempting. Every turn comes with its own surprise: tight hairpins, blind bends, and the occasional rockslide tumbling down the cliffs.

Soon, the lush greens of Kinnaur will fade behind you, replaced by raw, lunar-like landscapes. The mountains shed their forests for bare, ochre ridges and wind-carved slopes- a surreal transition that signal your entry in the legendary Spiti Valley.

At Khab, where the Sutlej and Spiti Rivers collide, stop for a moment just to take it in. Two wild forces meeting head-on- it’s the kind of scene that makes you feel both tiny and alive.

The climb up to Nako is steep and thrilling, with switchbacks that test both skill and nerve. Grab a quick snack at Nako Top and breathe in thin, crisp air and feel that familiar buzz of high-altitude adventure.

From there, the road will turn wild- a dirt trail hugging cliffs and trace the silver ribbon of the Spiti River. The descents are sharp with the view’s infinite. Roll down through Tabo, home to thousand-year-old monasteries whispering stories of time and silence, before finally reaching Kaza, the laid-back capital of Spiti.

That night, I sat under a sky blazing with stars, the sound of the Spiti River humming softly nearby. Later, I wandered through Old Kaza, sipping on a tangy buckthorn juice and trying Thiang Mo, a local buckwheat bread. It was the perfect way to wrap up a day that had been equal parts grit, beauty, and soul.

Overnight in Tabo.

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner.

Hikkim Post Office

Wake up before sunrise and chill in the Spiti air that will wake up every sense, and it will be an epic ride for sure. Your first stop will be at Hikkim, home to the world’s highest post office at 14,400 feet. The climb will be short but intense, winding higher through thin air and wide horizons.

From Hikkim, continue your ride to Komic, the highest motorable village on the planet. At 15,027 feet, the world will feel completely different with a sharp sky where silence speaks louder. Surrounded by snow-draped peaks and ancient sea fossils, it’s surreal to think this place once lay beneath an ocean.

Drive next to Langza, a village watched over by a majestic Buddha statue gazing peacefully across the valley. Park your motorbike and take a slow walk up to the statue for a grateful feel. Enjoy tea and dry fruits here with the warm hospitality of the villagers.

As the day began to fade, ride toward the Key Monastery, perched dramatically on a cliffside with its white walls glowing gold in the evening sun. End the ride in Kaza, the capital of Spiti Valley.

Shingo La Pass

This is one of the days that will test your machine and spirit. The road to Padum wound through Shingo La Pass (5,091 m)- a wild, unpaved trail of loose gravel, icy crossings, and heart-racing switchbacks.

Overnight in Padum. Meals: Breakfast and Dinner.

Lamayuru Monastery

The ride from Padum to Lamayuru will feel like riding through another world. Zanskar revealed its wild, untouched beauty with high cliffs sculpted by wind, deep gorges, and silence that spoke louder than words.

After hours of winding through these dramatic landscapes, Lamayuru will appear like an ancient secret, its “moonland” terrain glowing silver in the afternoon light. The Lamayuru Monastery, perched above the valley, adds a spiritual calm to an otherwise intense day of riding.
