Royal Enfield Trip to Ladakh

Fly to Leh early morning, your first stop in the Himalayas, at 11,500 feet. Our representative will meet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel. Since acclimatization is key at this altitude, this day is reserved to do rest. This is an essential pause to get your body used to the thin air. By evening you will meet your new friends for the Royal Enfield Ladakh trip.

After breakfast ride to some of the iconic places of Leh. Visit Shey Palace, the summer capital of Ladakh, Thiksey Monastery, a beautiful complex of Buddhist art and architecture, and Hemis Monastery, the largest in Ladakh to get a glimpse of the spiritual heritage of the region. Don’t miss the Stok Palace Museum to see the royal artifacts and ancient treasures. In the evening walk through the markets of Leh and pick up some souvenirs like pashmina shawls or prayer flags.

Today the adventure begins as you ride through the beautiful landscapes of Ladakh. Stop at Nimmoo to see the confluence of the green Indus and brown Zanskar rivers – a natural wonder. Continue to Alchi Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site to see the 1,000 year old murals and statues. Finally ride to Dah Hanu, the last of the Aryan tribes. Immerse yourself in their culture and enjoy the beauty of this remote village.

Ride to Lamayuru Monastery, situated in the surreal Moonland with crater-like formations. This 11th century gompa is one of the oldest in Ladakh and belongs to the Drikung Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism. On the way back to Leh stop at Magnetic Hill where the laws of gravity seem to be reversed and Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, a sacred Sikh shrine. Each stop is another layer of Ladakh’s magic and is a treat for your eyes and soul.

Get ready for an epic ride to Khardung La which is the highest motorable road in the world at 18,380 feet. The ride is tough but worth it with stunning views of snow capped mountains and valleys. Descend into the beautiful Nubra Valley, known for its sand dunes, villages and warm people. Visit Diskit Monastery with a huge Buddha statue and take a Bactrian camel ride on the dunes of Hunder.

Today’s ride takes you through rough roads along the Shyok River where every bend will give you a new view of Ladakh’s unspoilt beauty. Visit Diskit for a last look at the famous Buddha statue before heading to Pangong Lake. At 14,300 feet, this blue lake is shared by India and China and has been featured in movies like 3 Idiots. Spend the evening in the surreal beauty of this high altitude lake.

Leave Pangong and ride back to Leh through Chang La, the second highest motorable pass in the world at 17,590 feet. On the way visit the beautiful Thiksey Monastery, a fine example of Ladakhi architecture. By evening return to Leh to celebrate the end of your bike trip with fellow riders.

With a heart full of memories and spirit renewed now it’s time to leave the mountains behind. You will be dropped at Leh Airport for your flight back to Delhi.
