Spiti Valley Tour Itinerary

Raj Ghat

Welcome to India! As soon as you land in Delhi, our friendly crew will be waiting just outside the airport, ready to whisk you away from jet lag and airport chaos straight to your hotel. Check in, drop your bags, breathe—it is the calm before a very beautiful storm of sights, sounds, and samosas.

We will start at Jama Masjid, India’s largest mosque—grand, intricate, and still echoing centuries of prayers. From there, plunge into the swirling energy of Chandni Chowk, the old marketplace where everything from spices to silk to stories is still traded. You can walk or hop on a classic cycle rickshaw for that full sensory rollercoaster. After a stroll in Chandni Chowk, the drive will continue with India Gate, President’s House, and Raj Ghat, where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated.

You will also explore two of Delhi’s UNESCO gems: the elegant, sandstone Humayun’s Tomb, which inspired the Taj Mahal, and the striking Qutub Minar, a 72-meter minaret built over 800 years ago that still towers over the city like it owns the place (because it kind of does). If the day allows, we will wrap up with a quiet visit to Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, a serene Sikh temple where devotion hums quietly in the air and the kitchen feeds thousands daily, no questions asked. Then back to the hotel for a well-earned rest. Tomorrow, the mountains start calling, which will take you to the best of North India Tour.

Christ Church

Wake up early and get ready to take a scenic train ride to Chandigarh in the new Vande Bharat Express. After arrival, the drive will continue from Chandigarh Railway Station to Shimla. It will take 3-4 hours to reach. On arrival, check in to the hotel. Start exploring the beautiful city of Shimla with a visit to Jakhoo Temple and Kufri. After an adventure day outing in Kufri, come back to Shimla and enjoy your evening at the Mall Road. Visit Christ Church, explore local markets as Lakkar Bazaar and Ridge Ground.

Sutlej Valley

Begin your mountain adventure with a drive through the dramatic Sutlej Valley into the lesser-explored Sangla Valley. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks, Sangla offers alpine beauty and local wooden architecture.

Kinner Kailash Range

A short drive to Kalpa, perched high above the valley with stunning views of the sacred Kinner Kailash range. Visit temples, sip apple cider, and soak up the surreal serenity.

Note: Today we will apply for Inner Line Permit in the administrative office. The office is closed on every Sunday and National Holidays.

Nako Lake

Today, you ascend into the surreal moonscapes of Spiti Valley. Visit Nako Lake, a high-altitude hamlet and Gyu Village known as the Mummy of Monk before heading to Tabo, home of the over 1,000-year-old Tabo Monastery, also called as "Ajanta of the Himalayas."

Dhankar Monastery

After breakfast, the trip will start with a visit to Tabo Monastery, one of the most spiritually and artistically significant monasteries in the entire Himalayan region. With beautifully preserved murals, intricate stucco work, and a quiet, timeless energy, this Gompa looks wonderful and sacred.

The monastery complex includes nine temples, over twenty chortens (stupas), monk and nun quarters, and even meditation caves carved into the mountainside. If you listen closely, you might just hear the past whispering through the stone. After soaking in the atmosphere at Tabo, hit the road for Kaza. On the way, there will be two more unforgettable stops at Lalung Village and Dhankar Monastery.

Finally, continue to Kaza, the main town of Spiti and your home base for the next couple of nights. It is a rugged, high-altitude hub surrounded by stark beauty and dotted with cozy guesthouses, friendly locals, and high-altitude. On the way to Kaza, visit Dhankar Monastery, dramatically perched on a cliff. Arrive in Kaza, the largest town in Spiti, your base for exploration.

Overnight stay in Kaza.

Key Monastery

Today is all about discovery. Visit Key Monastery, Hikkim (the world's highest post office at 4400 m), Komic (the world’s highest motorable village at 4587 metres), and Langza (home to ancient fossils and a towering Buddha statue). After a unique expedition, come back to the hotel and relax. Overnight stay at the Hotel.

Kunzum La

A long but jaw-dropping drive through Kunzum La (4,551m) and the ever-changing landscape of Lahaul to reach Manali, where forests replace rocks and comfort returns.

Get to Know Spiti Valley

Known as Middle Land in the local language, Spiti Valley is a high-altitude region in Himachal at 12,500 feet where it is easy to see Buddhist culture prevailing across the oldest monasteries.

Did you know that Spiti Valley is not just a destination—it is an altitude-induced fever dream wrapped in icy winds and ancient mysteries? This cold desert is your ticket to celestial landscapes, lunar valleys, and a whole lot of wondering why you did not come here sooner, or bring better socks.

There are many beautiful places to visit in Spiti Valley. Begin your journey with the legendary Key Monastery, a fortress of faith and discipline, where over a thousand monks dedicate their lives to quietude and chanting, while you are outside taking selfies with prayer wheels. Then there’s Tabo Monastery, over a millennium old and officially a national treasure—basically the wise grandparent of monasteries. Think intricate murals, peace you can feel in your teeth, and the overwhelming realisation that you have done nothing meaningful with your life compared to the people who built this.

And it is not all spiritual and scenic—Spiti Valley tour packages toss in piping hot thukpa, buttery momos, quirky local homestays, bustling little markets, and a chance to realise your city life is aggressively mediocre. Every hairpin bend on the road here is a plot twist.
