Leh Ladakh Road Trip Itinerary

On arrival at Delhi International airport, you will meet with our representative and transfer to the hotel. Free time leisure to relax. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Early breakfast at hotel followed by transfer to Delhi domestic airport to board flight for Leh. For a road trip to Leh, Delhi to Leh route is mesmerising and full of diverse landscapes. On arrival at Leh airport, you will be met by our representative and escort you to hotel for check in. Complete day for the acclimatization at hotel, which is 3500 metres above sea level. Overnight at hotel.

Tour of Hemis, Thiksey & Shey monastery. After a leisurely breakfast, we drive to visit Hemis Monastery situated 45km west of Leh; Hemis is the largest and the wealthiest monastery in Ladakh. From Hemis, you are driven back taking the same route to visit Thiksey Monastery, located on a hill-lock with formidable views of the Indus valley. Thiksey is especially noteworthy for its gigantic seated statue of the Maitreya and is also known for its (Dukhang) assembly hall which houses hundreds of rectangular prayer books, stacked between wooden covers and bound in silk. After that we continue to drive through series of chortens to visit Shey Palace the former summer palace of the King of Ladakh. Late evening return back to Leh for overnight stay.

Leave for Uletokpo camping which is one of the most beautiful camping in the Ladakh region on the way visit Spituk monastery that is just 5 kms from Leh town. Continue drive to Alchi monastery is the only monastery in the Ladakh on flat ground. By the lunchtime you will reach Uletokpo. Leave Uletokpo and continue drive to Lamayuru via Khaltsi. From here another 22 kms drive will take you to Lamayuru. The oldest and spectacularly set Lamayuru monastery founded in the 10th Century. Visit the monastery. Further drive to Dhahanu Aryans in this palace you will find number of villages and here climate is little warmer then Leh the local community of Dhahanu believed to be the last race of Aryans, confined to the valley with their pure Aryan features. After breakfast excursion around Dhahanu village, later drive to Leh via Likir to visit Likir Monastery it is famous for its huge sitting Buddha statue. It's one of the best maintained monasteries in Ladakh. This magnificent monastery stands on a small hillock in the valley, about 10 km from Saspol village near Indus River. Under the supervision of LhachenGyalpo, the fifth king of Ladakh, Lama Duwang Chosje founded this monastery in 1065. The monastery is known for housing a 23 m high gilded gold statue of Maitreya Buddha. After the excursion of Likir evening return back to Leh for overnight stay.

Distance from Leh to Nubra Valley is approximately 125 kilometers. Have Breakfast at hotel and then drive to one of the enchanting valleys- Nubra via Khardungla pass which is the highest motorable pass in the world 5600 mtrs and has been recorded in the Gunnies Book of world records. Further proceed for Nubra Valley known as the Orchard of Ladakh and was originally called Ldumra which meant the valley of flowers and charismatic white sands, the snow caps, the green tumbling villages, the murmuring rivers, families of yaks and camels, the apricot orchards. Cradled between the Karakoram Range and the Ladakh Range, this high-altitude desert enchants visitors with its stark landscapes and vibrant cultural tapestry. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks, the valley boasts orchards and lush fields nourished by the Shyok River. Visitors relish the thrilling Khardung La Pass ascent, one of the world's highest motorable roads. Nubra, a mosaic of dunes and oases, beckons explorers seeking tranquility amid Himalayan splendour. After breakfast pleasurable excursion vicinity of Nubra Valley today you will be driven back to Leh via visit Diskit Monastery It belongs to the Gelugpa (Yellow Hat) sect of Tibetan Buddhism. It was founded by ChangzemTserabZangpo, a disciple of TsongKhapa, founder of Gelugpa, in the 14th century. Diskit, the largest town, features the iconic Diskit Monastery with a towering Maitreya Buddha statue. On arrival check into the hotel for overnight stay.

After early Breakfast leave for Pangong Lake (14,500 ft), through Changla Pass 17,350 ft., it is the third highest motorable road in the world. After crossing the pass halt for picnic lunch at Tsoltak, the summer pastureland of the yaks. Arrive Durbuk and from there a short drive takes you to Lukung at the western shore of the lake and drive along the Pangong Lake upto Spangmik (8 kms) the last point allowed for tourists. This famous blue brackish Lake of Pangong is 5/6 kms wide and over 144 kms long. Pangong Lake it is the highest salt water Lake in the World, shared by two countries India & China. Enjoy the beauty of the lake on the Banks of Pangong Lake while appreciating the changing Colours and fascinating high altitude of the Lake. Overnight stay at deluxe camp.

Drive back for Leh. Leisure evening short walk around Leh bazaar.
