India – Bhutan Cross Country Motorcycle Tour 14 Nights / 15 Days

Today we will gather at Bagdogra hotel and late evening discuss about tour program. Overnight in Bagdogra.

After breakfast, drive to Phuentsholing. On arrival you will check-in at the hotel. After the check-in formality will go to immigration office for visa. Evening a joy ride in the town to get familiarize with Motorbike. Overnight in Phuentsholing.

We will start by riding towards North- West of Bhutan from the foothill, of Phuentsholing to Paro (2280m) Valley. We start our adventure today, and experience Bhutan as a true paradise for bikers with endless winding roads through the Valleys of Bhutan. Overnight in Paro.

After breakfast we’ll till monastery base parking and then our day hike starts here, we will be hiking for 4 to 5 hrs to and from. Tiger’s nest (3000m): it is Bhutan’s most recognizable culture icon perched 800m up a seemingly sheer cliff. It is believed in the 8th century the great tantric master Guru Rimpoche (2nd Buddha) Flew on the back of a tigress to the site where the monastery now stands. Overnight in Paro.

On our fifth day of riding, we will be doing immensely fantastic climb up to the Chele La pass (3,990 m): The highest motorable pass in Bhutan. If the Weather permits we’ll enjoy the breathtaking views of snowcapped mountains. Then will descend down towards Thimphu en route we will stop at Tamchog Lhakhang (temple) and the famous iron bridge from the 16th century. Overnight in Thimphu.

Morning: Kuenselphodrang Nature Park- where the largest Buddha statue in the country is perched on the hillock, overlooking the magnificent Thimphu valley.

Bhutan Craft bazaar: The private stalls had a variety of high-end quality products from places across the country such as wood carved national symbols, bags and western wears with touch of traditional designs, wooden and clay utensils, Bangchung, Dhapa, key hanger of jewelry boxes, bookmarks and handmade packing papers (Deysho) in different patterns, antique items and etc. The stalls have a distinctly rich outlook with fine tones of elegance, and a warm and inviting atmosphere. The craft bazaar is also an exemplary of how bamboo can be used to construct houses in the country.

Textile Academy: Weaving is an integral component of the cultural and tradition of Bhutan. With the aim to preserve and promote these living arts, the Royal Textile Academy of Bhutan was instituted in May 2005 under the patronage of her Majesty Ashi Sangay Choden Wangchuck as a nongovernment, nonprofit organization. It’s a good place to see the art of traditional weaving and has a good collection of old textiles which are rich in colors and designs. You will also see people weaving with intricate designs.

Mini Zoo: Here you can see Bhutan’s national animal, Takin. This is an extremely rare member of the goat or cow family, found in herds in the high altitudes over 13,100ft.

Simply Bhutan- a living museum and photo studio: This project is aimed at Engaging and empowering young entrepreneurs through preservation, promotion and showcasing of Bhutanese traditions and cultural diversity. In this living museum you can get into a setting of the traditional Bhutanese way of life.

Bhutan Post Museum: The museum tells the story of Bhutan’s progress and development through the evolution of communications and postal system in the country. The journey is told through anecdotes, artifacts and the rich assortment of stamps the country has produced.

Evening stroll around Thimphu city and overnight in Thimphu.

The ride will start with a steep climb up towards Dochula pass (3,140m). On a clear day, stop here will allow us to enjoy the Mount Gangkar Phuensuem, the highest mountain in Bhutan amongst identically high mountains. The view is breathtaking and evokes a sense of serenity within, a great beginning to the arduous ride ahead. The beauty of the place is further enhanced by the Druk Wangyel Chortens, 108 stupas built under the command and supervision by the eldest Queen, Her Majesty Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck. The descent will take a winding path with narrow roads, with view of monastic structures built precariously on cliffs and tops until we reach the Wangdue and Punakha Valleys. Overnight in Punakha.

Before Heading out to Phobjikha we will visit Punakha Dzong (Fortress) which is built in 1637 by Zhabdrung and is remarkably located between the rivers of Mo (female) chu (river) and Pho (male) chu. Until the time of second king it served as a seat of the king and is the country’s old capital. Later after the visit we will head towards to Phobjikha Valley. This valley, on the slopes of which is situated the great monastery of Gangtey, established in the 17th century. The village of Phobjikha lies a few km down from the monastery, on the valley floor is a winter habitat of Black necked cranes and located one of the largest dwarf bamboo fields. Overnight in Phobjikha.

The ride to Bumthang (2750m) will see us ride up narrow winding roads to Yotongla pass at 3425mts and take a descent until we reach the Bumthang Valley. The beautiful valley is popular destination owing to its vast spiritual structures with divine mythologies, traditional products and warm people. En route, we'll stop briefly to visit the Yathra Weaving Centre. Overnight in Bumthang.

Bumthang is a beautiful wide valley and there are many places for sightseeing. We’ll also visit Jambay Lhakhang: It is one of the 108 monasteries built by King Songtsen Goenpo in the 8th century to subdue evil spirits in the Himalayan region in one day.

Visit Swiss farm: and taste cheese, apple brandy and locally brewed wine and famous red panda Bear.

Later in the afternoon; take an optional ride to Tang valley, which is one of the most popular and beautiful valley in Bumthang and a great place for ride. Overnight in Bumthang.

We'll be starting early and heading to Mongar (1600m). Breathtaking surrounding vegetation as we climb through the various climate zones. After riding about 45km came’s the Ura village, one of the best examples village in country. Later we will come across Thrumshingla Pass (02nd the highest motor able pass in Bhutan) 3750m above sea level. Than descend to Sengor Village, we’ll stop here for lunch.

After lunch, we will come across the most dangerous section of road called Namling Brak where we’ll stop for photo and continue towards Mongar. (Capital City of Eastern Bhutan). Overnight in Mongar.

In the morning we will cruise about 17km on our bikes towards Kori la pass (2400m) and descent all way to valley floor, approximately about 1200m and continue to Trashigang.

Trashigang spans the eastern most corners of the kingdom, skirting up to the edge of the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, and is the country’s largest district. The district has an altitude ranging from 600m to over 4000m above sea level and Bhutan’s largest river, the Dangmechu, flows through the district. Today it is the junction of the east-west highway, with road connections to Samdrup Jongkhar and then into the Indian state of Assam. Trashigang town is also the principle market place for the semi-nomadic people of Merak and Sakteng, whose way of dress is very unique in Bhutan. Overnight in Trashigang.

Today we’ll descend towards Eastern Himalayan foothill of Bhutan Samdrup Jongkhar. This Highway was built by Dantak (Indian border-road organization) and it’s most important road for the Eastern Bhutan. Morning ascend to Yongphu la (2190m) about 30km where the eastern airfield is located. On the way we’ll come across Sherubtse College (Peak of Knowledge), country’s first college in late 1970s.

After riding about 100km we come across the day’s most dangerous section of road, called Menlong Brak (Brak means Cliff).

In the evening you can relax or stroll around the border town. Farewell Dinner & Overnight in Samdrup Jongkhar.

After breakfast, our representatives will assist you to exit the country properly. You will be driven to Guwahati, which is about 3 hours drive from Samdrup Jongkhar, in the afternoon reach at Guwahati (India). Overnight in Guwahati.
